We'd like to introduce Willfidence, which is a combination of confidence. Self-worth, self-esteem, and willingness to act.
It is a term created in our company to describe an affective state that helps you improve your communication.
We measure Willfidence in three ways. First, we measure vocal cues. So, how you say things when you are excited, when you are going through some sort of paroxysm. Or for example, when you are calm, do you use question marks, or rather, go with exclamation marks? In which situations do you use which?
It all can be measured through a set of acoustic measures, such as speech variance and volume, speed of your talk, etc, etc. But that is not all.
The second thing that builds the willfidence is verbal cues.
So, again, what words do you use when you are excited, when you are knowledgeable about something, or when you are looking to get the knowledge about something? Do you use many filler words? And if yes, in what situations?
Do you have your favourite words? Do they help you spread the knowledge, or get to know the topic, or it's just dependent on the situation?
And that brings us to the third point, which is the, context. So, the context of your knowledge is your profession. The set of your competences.
What do you usually talk about when you're asked about your strengths? About your professional life? What is your topic that lights you up?
These three are the measures that Willfidence is built on.
But finally, why do we actually do it?
Well, Willfidence can help you match with someone with a similar profile. A similar Willfidence score, and become a learning body with that person. Learn from that person or teach them.
Our goal is to help organizational growth and organizational learning. And we found that there is still a big gap in the research between acoustic measures (verbal, vocal cues research, prosody research) and learning sciences. So Willfidence is an attempt to bridge that gap and establish a measure that can be used for building learning profiles. And thus matching learners and enabling the flow of knowledge throughout the organization.
